Liberty Mutual Commercial Insurance IT is actively searching for an IT Project Lead within the Individual Life department. Commercial Insurance IT supports the Commercial Insurance business group which is the fourth largest commercial insurer in the US. Commercial Insurance IT leverages strengths to continue to simplify operations and invest in new technologies that provide competitive advantage. In this position, you will oversee the planning and implementation of IT projects. Projects pertain to the delivery of timely, quality IT services and/or related to improving business effectiveness or efficiency. Review, evaluate and formulate project plans, schedules and budgets. Responsible for leading, planning, managing and directing a project team to accomplish the objectives of a project. Coordinate schedules and assigns project tasks. Receive general supervision from the IT Project Manager or IT Management. Maintain working relationships with client functional areas outside of IT.
Responsibilities:
With client management, defines the objectives to be accomplished by the project team.
Lead, determine best method and directs project teams to meet project objectives
Reviews, evaluates, formulates, and executes projects on plans, schedules, and budgets.
Allocates staff and budget resources required to achieve project objectives.
Identifies and negotiates schedules, milestones, and resources required to meet project objectives, and modifies schedules as required.
Organizes and guides project operations through the use of systems development and project management methodologies accepted by the industry.
Works with the team and business to coordinate systems testing, User Acceptance testing installation, training and support.
Uses appropriate systems development methodologies to structure and organize the tasks to be completed by the team. Develops the project plan in conjunction with the team.
Monitors and reports project status using established metrics against the plan.
May provide coaching and mentoring to project team members.
Performs related duties as assigned or requested.
Quality deliverables that meet customer's expectations.
Product is delivered on time and meets both internal and customer specifications.
Ensures team delivers accurate and complete project documentation as defined by Liberty Mutual standards.
Ensures team adheres to Liberty's standard technology and processes.
Project provides for increased efficiencies or value to Liberty Mutual overall.
Project provides participants with an increased technical knowledge and skill set.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 4-6 or more years related experience as a project team member of which at least 2 years have been in a leadership position, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Understanding of team leadership, business practices and their application to effective project management.
Strong analytical, communication and technical skills.
Able to foster working relationships with the team and business partners.
Good knowledge of project management life cycle, methodologies, and support tools
Thorough knowledge of project management concepts, practices, and techniques
