Under the general guidance and direction of the SPD Manager, the Central Sterile Processing Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all required training and associated documentation for the department is completed as assigned.
Working collaboratively with Clinical Operations, the Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for registration, logistics, material preparation, reporting and communications for all assigned training programs.
The Staff Development Coordinator actively participates in the training of student interns and new employees; maintaining competency in all core sterile processing functions is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMust be able to perform all duties in accordance with the WDH Policies and Procedures.
International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) and/or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc.
(CBSPD) standards and procedures should be understood and followed.
Responsible for obtaining and maintaining CRCST or CBSPD always during employment.
Ensures that employees receive compliance and training and education necessary to perform their job responsibilities in accordance with WDH Policies and Procedures.
Oversees the process for competency evaluation of new clinical department personnel; recommends progression to permanent employment or extension of orientation/probationary period for new employees.
Plans, organizes, and presents ongoing education and training programs for personnel to promote the knowledge and skills necessary to excel, secures appropriate qualified industry trainers as needed.
Develops and maintains monthly and annual education calendars for assigned group, works with Clinical Operations Leadership to ensure optimal participation.
Coordinates, develops, and provides individualized new employee/intern training schedule to ensure timeline and associated milestones are achievable.
Provides direct hands on training and education in all aspects of Sterile Processing for new employees and students.
Ensures that documentation for all training and education is completed and maintained in accordance with WDH Policies and Procedures, including utilization of HealthStream and compilation of certification documents.
Provides supplemental training and education as applicable for identified performance concerns and makes recommendations for additional training and follow up to the requesting party.
Functions as resource for junior technicians in interpreting instrument processing policies and procedures.
Participates in special projects and quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs all functions of a Sterile Processing Technician or Sterile Processing Endoscope Technician as required.
All other responsibilities as assigned.
Experience Minimum Required At least Three (3) years direct experience performing all Sterile Processing functions within an operative setting.
Demonstrated experience in project management, training, or OR liaison function.
Experience Preferred/Desired Experience gained in a large Academic Medical Center or Trauma Center.
Education Minimum Required High school diploma, GED or equivalent Education Preferred/Desired Post- secondary education Training Preferred/Desired Graduate of Sterile Processing Training program Special Skills Minimum Required Excellent organization, operations, people management, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand medical terminology to follow written instructions and complete various forms and records regarding equipment processing and preparation of equipment.
Must have working knowledge of computer programs; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and exposure to instrument tracking software.
Existing knowledge of EPIC, HealthStream and SPM are preferred.
Ability to multi-task is critical.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
