Liberty Mutual Information Technology is actively searching for a Sr. Unix/Scripting developer who will leverage technology to develop business solutions within the Individual Life portfolio.
This position will support the Personal Markets Individual Life systems. You will be responsible for participating on projects throughout all stages of the development lifecycle. This position requires a solid background in a technical discipline, excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask simultaneous projects. The candidate will work closely with analysts and other developers to determine the most strategic design which meets the business need. The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with UNIX, SQL and Sybase.
Analyzes technical system problems, and designs and implements effective solutions
Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and resolve them
May be asked to provide on-call support
Resolves customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements
Consults on technical issues
Investigates components of new tools and techniques
Contributes to the development of project plans, and assigns and monitors tasks of lower level Software Developers
Creates and maintain technical documentation
Assists in the troubleshooting of code defects and deploy timely fixes
5 years of current experience with Unix scripting (e.g., KSH) and other technologies
5 years of current experience with SQL, Sybase stored procedures and Sybase DBMS
Thorough knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, architectures and technical standards
Proficient in programming languages and tools
Knowledgeable in new and emerging technologies
Knowledge of design and development tools
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Experience mentoring junior level developers
Knowledge of business functions and understanding of business operations, strategies, and objectives
Bachelor's Degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
Previous experience with financial applications and/or life insurance compensation systems preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
