Liberty Mutual''s Commercial Markets is actively searching for a Senior / Chief Underwriter to join the Group Life/Disability team. This position is responsible for large and technically complex risk evaluation and selection/rejection of new and renewal business.
Responsibilities:
Evaluates risks on large and technically complex new and renewal business, reviews related information concerning risk (e.g., classifications, exposures, loss ratios, develops rate/premium level & rating plan, etc.) and determines approval or rejection
Negotiates terms of individual new business and renewal programs with Sales, policyholders, and prospects; may purchase reinsurance to protect Corporate Surplus and Corporate Treaty Agreements on accounts
Analyzes and approves the pricing component and financial considerations on cash flow plans for accounts
Ensures policy issuance is in accordance with State and Federal regulatory filings on large/complex accounts
Recognizes need for customer insurance product development/redesign; develops proposal; makes recommendation which includes marketing and service programs and manuscript policy documents
Consults and develops marketing programs in conjunction with Sales
Analyzes all statistical Claims, Loss Prevention, Sales, Financial, etc. data relative to renewals and prospects for the eventual development of prospected quotations
Develops procedures, exhibits, and controls for large/complex accounts to meet marketing objectives and corporate standards
Ensures procedures are implemented and monitors effectiveness
Participates in training and marketing programs, instructs basic and advanced employee training classes and seminars
May serve as Company/Department representative or expert witness at any Bureau Meetings, court trials, arbitration hearings, etc.
May perform other projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Frequently exercises independent judgment in resolving problems
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and 5-8 years of increasingly responsible work experience
Extensive knowledge of Underwriting rules and guidelines, contract coverages and conditions, insurance laws and regulations, rating manual rules and personal computers is essential
Strong analytical, planning, organizational, negotiating and decision making skills
Excellent written and oral communications skills required

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
