Liberty Mutual Commercial Insurance IT is actively searching for a Manager, Database Administration. Commercial Insurance IT supports the Commercial Insurance business group which is the fourth largest commercial insurer in the US. Commercial Insurance IT leverages strengths to continue to simplify operations and invest in new technologies that provide competitive advantage.
Job Summary:
Manages a staff responsible for the operational support for large complex database systems including design, installation, maintenance and support. Responsible for management of database-related projects and software installation and upgrades; and integration initiatives spanning multiple organizations and disciplines. Responsible for database system availability, performance and capacity. Forecasts system demands and recommends upgrades, expansions and reconfigurations; organizes and controls the activities. Manages multiple projects, professional and technical staff, and related activities of the area. Participates in the development of business and/or IT technology vision, critical success factors and operating plans; develops and communicates unit vision, strategies, critical success factors and plans; develops high-level migration plans. Works with customers and technical staff to resolve problems and respond to suggestions for improvements or enhancements. Initiates and fosters business partnerships with clients, vendors, IT and Business Managers; develops relationships that support increasing efficiency and effectiveness; balances individual client needs with business priorities.
Job Responsibilities:
Hires and manages a team of people; coaches, counsels and develops team members. Defines individual performance objectives and development plans and ensures alignment with project and organizational objectives. Appraises and evaluates team and individual performance and makes compensation recommendations.
Manages team to provide support of 24/7 operations, application releases, discretionary initiatives, production support and disaster recovery.
Ensures enterprise data integrity and recoverability through development of appropriate strategies, procedures, technologies, staffing and training.
Assigns staff to various projects and directs their activities.
Establishes financial plan for the unit and manages to plan; ensures project financial plans are met.
Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least 8 or more years experience in operations and administration, database or infrastructure installation, operation and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Requires extensive knowledge of database technologies, operating environments and application architectures. Requires excellent communication, negotiation, presentation and consensus building skills. Management experience desired

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
